Přívoz was once a picturesque farming village, living a quiet, rural life — until the arrival of the Northern Railway of Emperor Ferdinand changed everything.

On May 1st, 1847, the first train arrived at the new station, placing Ostrava on the railway map between Krakow and the imperial capital, Vienna.
The sudden accessibility of the growing industrial city quickly transformed Přívoz forever.

Today, the center of Přívoz is a unique urban ensemble, shaped by the vision of renowned Austrian architect Camillo Sitte.
