Goodbye, Bauhaus!

Since 2018, when the Ostrava City Gallery of Contemporary Art opened the Bauhaus building to the public, over 200 artists, more than 60 institutions, platforms and communities, hundreds of schools and thousands of visitors have passed through Bauhaus.The building will close on the last day of June and the city management will demolish the building as there is a plan for a new construction here in the long term. The last two events will take place here on Friday, June 28, from 5 p.m. and on Sunday, June 30, 2024, from 4 p.m.

On Friday, June 28, from 5 to 10 p.m. a farewell party under the name Goodbye, Bauhaus! is planned. There will be a concert, planned guided tours, DJ set and a bonfire awaiting visitors in PLATO and the garden. Then at 6 p.m. there will be a guided tour including facilities on the 1st floor and at 7:30 p.m. you will get to experience an experimental electronic music by the Gin&Platonic platform. There will also be a performance by a London producer Klahrk and the discovery of the domestic experimental scene sorbitol drops.

On Sunday, June 30, from 4 p.m., the very last event will take place in the building. The name of the event is very telling: Removal of the sign PLATO B from the Bauhaus building. The gallery invites you to watch the high-rise work together during the removal of the building markings.

Since 2018, more than 200 artists from Ostrava, the Czech Republic and abroad have exhibited at the Bauhaus, it has been used by more than 60 institutions and platforms, hundreds of schools and thousands of visitors. The functional zones in the Bauhaus space, for example the stage, cinema, bistro, library, etc., are also works of art created during the first two years by artists from the Czech Republic, Poland, France, the USA and Belgium.
