The 64th annual Golden Spike Ostrava will take place at the Vítkovice Municipal Stadium on Tuesday, June 24. Spectators will meet famous athletes not only from the Czech republic but the whole world – there will also be local athletes from Vítkovice at the beggining of the main program. A rich accompanying program is prepared, including autograph sessions, para-athlete competitions and the 65th Chocolate Spike.
The organizers have already confirmed the participation of the “Norwegian record-breaking machine” Jakob Ingebrigtsen. He is returning to Ostrava after five years. Nineteen-year-old Lurdes Gloria Manuel, a native of Ostrava, junior world champion and sensational semi-finalist at the Paris Olympics, will also be present. She will compete in the 400-meter race against her newest training colleague, Femke Bol from the Netherlands.
Another rising star who will grace the starting list of the 64th Golden Spikes is Australian sprinter Gout Gout. Only seventeen years old, Gout is quickly making his way through the world of athletics and his start on the golden spike is set to become a thrilling spectacle. This super talent is often compared to the star Usain Bolt.
Czech stars will also appear in Vítkovice, including the currently fastest Czech national athlete, Karolína Maňasová from SSK Vítkovice.
A rich program will be prepared for fans in the sports fan zone at the stadium, including autograph sessions, souvenirs, sustainable catering and much more.
The international TV signal transmits live TV broadcasts to 140 countries around the world. In 2024, the viewership in the Czech Republic was 400,000 viewers on TV screens throughout the broadcast, the value of the media space was CZK 663 million.
"The 64th edition of the Golden spike is yet another proof that Ostrava knows how to organise large events. Thanks to the Golden Spike, Ostrava is clearly visible on the world map and its economic contribution is also significant. I believe that together we will once again succeed in creating an unforgettable atmosphere and showing that Ostrava is a dynamic city full of energy and hospitality. I wish all athletes good luck and unforgettable experiences to the spectators," says Aleš Boháč, Deputy Mayor of Ostrava.
