LUFT festival will start on April 30 and end on May 9. It will offer exhibitions, installations, concerts, film screenings accompanied by live music and a virtual reality workshop. The program will feature twenty young artists who focus on contemporary topics and times in their work.
LUFT will start on Wednesday, April 30 at 6:00 PM at the Provoz Gallery, where the opening of the exhibition by Johana Střížková, whose work combines video, photography and object installations, will take place. Immediately afterwards, there will be a pair of opening ceremonies by experimental artists Alžběta Krchová and Martina Strakošová at the DOCK club. The ceremonies will be followed by a concert by the trio KYUUBI, led by Vladivojna La Chia.
On Thursday, May 1, a workshop will take place, led by Daniel Randus, who works with game design and VR technologies. The evening will end with a performance by the electronic project Vlasta Burial.
The festival will culminate at the City Campus of the University of Ostrava in Černá louka, where the largest portion of the program will take place on Saturday, May 3. The local Gallery of the Faculty of Arts (GAFU) will host the opening of exhibitions by Hungarian painter Asztrid Csatlós, Armenian painter Argišt Alaverdyan, and Czech painter Jakub Tajovský. Don't expect anything usual though - all three artists specialize in combining classical painting and new media. The opening will be complemented by site-specific installations by Michal Konvička and performances by Jan Rajmont and Adriana Vančová alias timmi.
Saturday's program at the City Campus will be rounded off by a pair of highlights - a screening of the film Brutal Moods accompanied by live music by Štěpán Kopečný and an audiovisual performance by the be_KOS project in the chamber hall.
The exhibitions will be open from April 30 (Provoz) and May 3 (GAFU), respectively, and will run until Friday, May 9. On the penultimate day of the festival, Thursday, May 8, the last program act will take place at Provoz – a performance by the duo DBLV.
The LUFT festival is organized by the Provoz association, which manages the cultural center of the same name in Ostrava. The festival curators are Hynek Chmelař, Dominika Goralska, Barbora Mikudová and Jakub Černý.
