Musical Journeys 2025 - May full of music delicacies

Publikováno: 23.5.2025

The May concerts of the Musical Journeys 2025 cycle bring a unique opportunity for the listeners to experience top-notch interpretations of early music performed by the renowned ensembles Viaggio Musicale and Collegium Marianum. The concerts will take place in the region's historical areas and will offer a varied program connecting European Baroque with the music of South American missions.

"I am extremely pleased that we are once again bringing unique projects to the region in cooperation with the Museum of Novojičín. The projects will resound the historical monuments of our region. For the first time, the talented young countertenor Vojtěch Pelka, who is already one of the top performers in his field, will be performing here. A week later, we will host the renowned baroque ensemble Collegium Marianum in a unique and lively program, which will also feature Latin American music, in an unconventional instrumental ensemble," says Igor Františák, director of the Musical Journeys project.

Viaggio Musicale: Musical Delicacies

May 24, 2025, 6:00 PM, Kunín Castle

On Saturday, May 24, at Kunín Castle, the Viaggio Musicale ensemble will present the Musical Delicacies program, which will prepare a musical journey for listeners across Baroque and Classical Europe and will mentally transport them to royal courts and magnificent cathedrals through the masterpieces of Antonio Vivaldi, George Frideric Handel, Christoph Willibald Gluck, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The main star of the concert will be the young countertenor Vojtěch Pelka, who is a pioneer of this vocal field in the Czech Republic. He is a laureate of several international competitions, including the Audience Award at the Cesti Competition 2024 in Innsbruck. He collaborates with leading Czech and foreign ensembles (Musica Florea, Collegium Marianum, Viaggio Musicale, etc.).

Collegium Marianum: Indian Baroque Summer

May 30, 2025, 6:00 PM, Ostrava – Stará Bělá, Hus Choir

May 31, 2025, 6:00 PM, Žerotín Castle, Nový Jičín

On the last weekend of May, the areas of the Hus Choir in Stará Bělá and the Žerotín Castle in Nový Jičín will be filled with one of the most prominent baroque ensemble - Collegium Marianum, led by flutist Jana Semerádová, with the Indian Baroque Summer program. Lets go on an exceptional musical journey between two continents – from Haná pilgrimage songs to colorful hymns in Quechua from missions in Peru and Bolivia. The program connects European baroque music with the exotic beauty of South American choir music and presents music as a universal language of understanding, faith and joy.

We will perform a unique program of Cachua Serranita together with dulcimer player Marcel Comendant, great violin improviser Jura Sycha, Janek Prievoznik on violon and recent Anděl award winner Vojtěch Semerád. What music from very distant corners of our world has in common is the passion and joy that only musicians know when they play it together…,” says Jana Semerádová, artistic director of Collegio Marianum, explaining the inspiration for her unique program.

Tickets for all concerts are available online at the Musical Journeys website, in person at the Musical Journeys office at Dr. Šmerala 6, Ostrava, or at the concert venue.
