If you are looking for a destination for this year's Easter trip, Ostrava offers a balanced mix of holiday traditions, industrial monuments and peaceful places in nature. An extended weekend in Ostrava is an ideal choice for those who want to enjoy a rich program.
Festive atmosphere and spring markets in the center
In the pre-Easter period, the main square and the streets in the center are filled with spring markets. The traditional Easter Fair will be held on Masaryk Square from March 30 to April 3, 2026, with a daily program from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors can expect stalls with handicrafts, Easter decorations and regional gastronomy, complemented by musical performances, creative workshops and activities and games for children. It is an ideal opportunity for an undemanding walk through the historic center, which you can end with a good coffee in one of the many cafes.
The Easter atmosphere will also be complemented by the Easter at the Castle event, which will take place on March 28, 2026 from 10 a.m. at the Silesian Ostrava Castle. Visitors can look forward to an Easter fair, folklore performances, theater, jugglers and a program for children, including thematic activities and demonstrations of traditional customs.
Discover the history of the city with a guide
Easter holidays in Ostrava are also associated with special guided tours. During the walk, you will learn a lot about the history, customs and traditions from Masopust to the end of Easter and the Whitsuntide holidays. You will learn interesting facts about the transformation of Ostrava into a modern metropolis and take a look at places that normally remain hidden.
Reservations and dates for the 2026 guided tours can be found HERE.
Industrial icons and spring nature
A visit to Ostrava would not be complete without a tour of the Dolní Vítkovice area. This national cultural monument is one of the most striking industrial areas in Europe. In clear spring weather, climbing the Bolt Tower, an observation deck atop of the blast furnace, will offer you a unique view of the entire city and the panorama of the Beskydy Mountains. In case of inclement weather, the interactive World of Science exhibition in Dolní Vítkovice is available, where scientific workshops and modern exhibitions for all ages are prepared for visitors.
The Easter program is also expanded by thematic tours of interesting buildings. Vila Grossmann invites you to Easter tours that will offer a pleasant spring atmosphere in unique historical interiors. The festive atmosphere will also be offered by the Michal Coalmine, where you can look forward to guided tours supplemented with a thematic program related to mining traditions as part of the Mining Spring event.
If you prefer a combination of history and nature, head to Landek Park. The largest mining museum in the country is located in a quiet location above the confluence of the Odra and Ostravice rivers and offers an authentic look into the history of coal mining.
Families with children will appreciate a visit to Ostrava Zoo, which is one of the largest zoos in our country. In spring, the local botanical park is full of life and offers an ideal all-day program. The Easter offer for families is further expanded by thematic events - Dinosaur Easter in Dolní Vítkovice and Easter in Landek.
Plan your spring trip. One weekend in Ostrava will offer you dozens of experiences - from technical uniques to history to peace in nature. The current program of events and practical tips can be found at www.visitostrava.eu/en/
