Four days of music, inspiration and a unique atmosphere. Every year, Colours of Ostrava attracts tens of thousands of visitors from around the world. Many come to see their favourite artists, but often leave with something more – a new appreciation of a city that surprises with its energy, transformation and authentic character. Take some time between concerts to explore Ostrava and make your festival experience even more rewarding.
Landmarks you shouldn't miss
The Lower Vítkovice Area is one of the most important industrial heritage sites in the Czech Republic. While at the festival, take some time to explore the rest of this remarkable place. You can also visit the Bolt Tower, an observation tower located on top of a former blast furnace, offering impressive views of the city, the festival grounds and the surrounding landscape.
Another unforgettable panorama awaits you from the Viewing Tower of the New Town Hall. From a height of almost 73 metres, you can enjoy views across Ostrava – from the historic city centre and industrial landmarks to its extensive green spaces.
Discover Ostrava's mining heritage
Mining has long been an essential part of Ostrava's identity. If you would like to learn more about the region's industrial heritage, visit the Michal Coalmine. This exceptionally well-preserved site offers an authentic insight into the route miners followed on their way to work.
Another worthwhile stop is Landek Park, the largest mining museum in the Czech Republic. In addition to exhibitions dedicated to coal mining, visitors can descend into the former mine workings and discover the history of local mining first-hand.
Relax by the river
The festival programme is packed, so taking a break is always a good idea. The banks of the Ostravice River are a favourite place to unwind. Cafés, restaurants and outdoor terraces create a pleasant atmosphere just a few minutes from the city centre.
Colours Plus
Colours of Ostrava offers much more than concerts. With the Colours Plus programme, festival wristband holders can easily combine music with discovering the city. The programme includes discounted admission to selected attractions, cultural institutions and leisure venues across Ostrava. It is a great opportunity to explore places you might not otherwise have time to visit during your stay.
Explore Ostrava with a guide
Would you like to get to know the city better? During Colours, you can join special guided tours that take you to both well-known landmarks and lesser-known corners of Ostrava. These themed walks introduce the city's history, architecture and stories hidden in its streets, offering insights that are easy to miss when exploring on your own.
Enjoy the festival and the city
Whether you have just an hour or a whole afternoon between concerts, Ostrava offers plenty of ways to make the most of your time. Exploring the city's history, architecture, industrial heritage and vibrant atmosphere can be just as memorable as the festival itself.
