Reconstruction of the Ostrava skyscraper

Ostrava's skyscraper in Ostrčilova street was built between 1965 and 1968 in the late international style. It was an experimental building of the Jindřiška housing estate. Originally it was designed as a residental building. Because of a lot of technical problems it was converted into an office block in the 1970s.

The "skyscraper" has been vacant since 2013 due to technical issues. The City has decided not to demolish the building - the building will be stripped down to its stuctural skeleton.The building will be anable to comply with all modern fire regulations. Originally it had 22 flors, but there are going to be floor added - there will be a café with a terrace with beautiful view on the city.

The building will consist of 76 appartments of various size. The gorund floor will contain commercial units and a reception and lobby area. The actual reconstruction could begin in 2023.
