The Lotz Trio is undoubtedly the only ensemble of players of period basset horns (bizarrely curved classical clarinets ending in a metal bell) in all of Central and Eastern Europe. Thanks to the trio's top concert players (brothers Róbert and Ronald Šebest and Igor Františák), a high artistic level is ensured with a certain amount of musician's passion mixed with interpretive humility. The trio regularly performs at their own Bratislava Mozart Festival, but five years ago the trio also experienced strong ovations abroad for a performance at the Museum of Musical Instruments in Berlin. At that time, however, they did not yet know that in 2019 they would receive an absolutely prestigious invitation from the New York MET (The Metropolitan Museum of Art). Going to a Lotz Trio concert definitely promises an unconventional experience, not only thanks to the specific sound of their instruments, which is more reminiscent of museum exhibits. The trio's repertoire belongs to the category of entertaining Harmoniemusik (divertimento, serenades, partitas), which was heard in aristocratic and Masonic circles, and the wonderful arrangements of arias from Mozart's operas The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni and The Magic Flute, as well as the operatic works of Antonio Salieri, are extremely popular. The original tension in their program is also created by original compositions by Czech-born Jiří Družecký and even the works of contemporary composers.
