The oldest existing construction in Vitkovice is the palace built in 1846-1847 by Rothschilds. The Palace has an empire style classical facade. It was built for the needs of the owners of the ironworks company and mainly the directors used to live there. There used to be a winter garden, hall, musical salon, dining room, kitchen, workshop, gentlemen´s salon, womens’ salon and rooms for the household. A beautiful garden was connecting the Palace with the headquarters of the ironworks company that was situated nearby the plant. The Palace had beautiful interiors, but unfortunately they exist only on the photographs kept in the archives of the ironworks company. These archives are ones of the most interesting in the Czech Republic.
